What is a credit union?
A credit union is a financial institution organised on co-operative basis which provides services only to its members. Credit union members set up a mutual saving fund from which they grant loans to each other under acceptable conditions established for themselves. Members join together on the basis of a certain common criterion and democratically manage the credit union in observance of applicable laws.
Main services of credit unions are as follows:
Acceptance of deposits. A credit union offers you a possibility of opening a bank account, placing a time deposit, accumulating money in savings, child and target savings accounts.
Granting of loans. A credit union grants personal, consumer, study and housing loans.
Payment cards. A credit union issues international MasterCard debit and credit cards.
Monetary transfers and payments. A credit union enables you to make ordinary and express monetary transfers, pay taxes and make other payments.*
* ask in each credit union what taxes and payments can be paid in it.
